Old-time collection from Italy with Sydney Views 1d x12 (four with certificates), 2d x29 (two with certificates) and 3d x4, Laureates No Watermark 1d x4 including a pair, 2d x8, 3d & 6d x2, 3d with Error of Watermark '2' (one of the most attractive examples of this rare stamp) and 'REGISTERED' x4 (two perforated), Large Diadems Imperf 5d (superb; BPA Certificate), 6d x7 and 1/- x3, 5/- Coin x9, Middle Period range of perfs not checked by us, 1897 Coin mint x3, 'OS' Overprints to 5/- plus Tall Stamp 5/- CTO & 20/- Governors CTO, a few Small 'OS' punctures and 'OS/NSW' perfins to 5/- Coin plus on Kangaroos to 2/- brown & KGV range, and Postage Dues CTO set to 20/- plus some extra perfs, Telegraphs 1d (unused), etc, many of the Classics are very attractive and most have full margins, postmark interest including Victorian Butterfly '1' on two of the Sydney Views, condition a bit variable but well above-average with most being fine to very fine. 1850-51 Sydney Views 1d dull carmine Plate II with Clouds on Hard Greyish Paper SG 11, margins just clear - at lower-right - to good, very lightly cancelled, Cat £450. Superb.
1850-51 Sydney Views 2d indigo Plate II (Horizontally-Line Background) Early Printings with Pick & Shovel Omitted SG 21f, exceptional impression with rich colour, margins good to large with almost full outer framelines except at right, BN '81' of Warwick (Moreton Bay District) largely clear of the variety, Cat £700 plus premiums for the shade and the pre-Separation usage in Queensland. 1850-51 Sydney Views 2d lilac-blue Plate II with Horizontal-Lined Background SG 22, margins close to good, lightly cancelled, Cat £1300. An attractive example of this scarce shade, that is more correctly styled as "dirty ultramarine". It could also be referred to as "stone".

1871-1902 Wmk '36' 1/- imperforate plate proofs in green on unwatermarked & gummed paper block of 4 & gutter strip of 4 (RPSofL Certificate) and watermarked ungummed block of 4 in a deeper shade; also 1897 Jubilee 1d+2d+2½d proofs in violet on a single piece of glazed paper (folded three times including through the 1d & 2½d) & endorsed re presentation by PMG Joseph Cook to the Speaker Joseph Abbott.

1885-86 Revenues Overprinted 'POSTAGE' in Black £1 deep lilac & claret Perf 13 SG 240, unusually well centred, reperforated at the top & small professional repairs at upper-right and upper-left corners, characteristic 'NSW'-in-concentric-ovals cancels, Cat £8000. A rare stamp, of which no unused examples have been recorded. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2023) states "Extremely rare as only 100 believed printed".
1897 Charity 1/- and 2/6d tied to separate local covers by Oxford Street duplex of JY6/97 and Mosman duplex of JY3/97 respectively, the latter with tiny tonespots still unusually fine.

1897 Reissued Coin Design 5/- reddish purple Perf 11 SG 297c lower-left corner block of 4 with Floral Ornamentation in the Left-Hand Margin, unusually well centred especially the lower pair, large-part original gum with the lower units being unmounted, Cat £240+, for four normal mounted singles. Ex 'Dubois' (I): sold for SFr670.
1899 Chalk-Surfaced Paper 1d deep carmine-pink (not scarlet, as per Gibbons) marginal block of 4 from the top of the sheet, the right-hand units are Imperforate Three Sides SG 300a, partial monograms in the margin, light vertical bend across the right-hand units is almost imperceptible from the face, all units with full unmounted original gum, Cat £2400+, for two mounted pairs.
SPECIMEN STAMPS: QV ½d green, 2½d indigo and 6d orange strips of 5, CTO with 'NSW'-in-conentric-ovals cancels & full unmounted original gum, each unit with 'ULTRAMAR' Handstamp in blue applied in Lisbon for UPU distribution to the Portuguese Colonies. Very scarce complete strips.
