PIONEER MAIL: 15 May 1856 wrapper from James Parsons, an Otago land owner, to Captain Cargill, Superintendent of Otago Province in Dunedin. Very fine, clear "PAID AT PORT VICTORIA NEW ZEALAND" Crowned Circle (S.G. CC6 cat. £1200) and black "OTAGO NEW ZEALAND JU 21 1858" on front. On the reverse is a black unframed "PORT VICTORIA MY 15 1856" cds. Red m/s "2" shows two pence paid by the sender.. Carried on the ' Ma rona' . A note (possibly in Cargill's hand) refers to Parsons' enquiry about land he owns at Portobello Bay opposite Port Chalmers. (Image)
