1854 (c.) essay by Perkins Bacon for proposed Queen-on-Throne 2d design progressive die proof with printer's guidelines & some mirroring of the engine-turning at L/L & L/R in deep blue on ungummed paper with Double-Lined Wmk '2' (Reversed). A rare & stunning proof, similar to the Victorian designs that were printed in 1854 but not issued until 1856 (1d) or 1858 (6d).
1854-59 Large Diadems 5d dull green as SG 88 but with the Watermark Inverted & Reversed, margins good to large, unused, Cat £1400. Ex Maurice Burrus & 'Besancon' (II).
1854-59 Large Diadems 8d imperforate plate proofs on unwatermarked paper in grey-blue (ungummed) & in yellow (large-part o.g.), margins good to large. A superior 'pair'.
1854-59 Large Diadems 1/- pale red SG 100 marginal block of 8 (2x4) from the top of the sheet, margins close - at L/R - to huge, light unclear BN '71' (?) cancels of Tamworth, Cat £700++. 1861-88 Coin 5/- rose-lilac Perf 10 SG 178 block of 6 (3x2), 'SYDNEY/MY3/1886/NSW' cds cancels, a little aged & small fault at L/R, Cat £330++. A rare used multiple.
1864-65 Single-Line Numeral Watermark 1d pale red SG 195 with the Watermark Inverted marginal block of 8 (4x2) from the top of the sheet, characteristically with the watermark clearly visible from the front showing an interpanneau 'gutter' & marginal watermark lines only on the two right-hand units, a couple of small thins in the margin only, large-part o.g. with four units being unmounted, Cat £1040++ (for mounted singles). A very desirable piece for the specialist. Ex William Frazer & 'Besancon' (III).
1867-93 New Denominations 10d lilac Perf 13 horizontal pair from the right of the left-hand pane Imperf Between & at Right SG 205a, characteristic irregular perfs at the base, large-part o.g., Cat £3000+. [One sheet was affected so twelve such pairs can exist. However, some of those seen have had the wing-margin at right removed]
1882-97 Wmk '40' 3d yellow-green Imperforate marginal block of 4 SG 226g from the right of the sheet, margins close to huge, large-part (slightly browned) o.g., Cat £800+. Ex "Carrington" (Mark Dankin): sold at the Prestige auction of 22.2.2013 for $834. [Blocks of all the imperforate errors are much scarcer than pairs]
1882-97 Wmk '40' 5d deep blue-green Imperforate strip of 3 SG 233e, good even margins, the third unit with light vertical crease, large-part o.g., Cat £475+ for a pair. Ex 'Alvarado' & 'Besancon' (II).
1885-86 High Value Revenues Overprinted 'POSTAGE'in Blue £1 rose-lilac & claret Perf 10x12 SG 242, characteristic centring & irregular perforations, large-part lightly mounted o.g., Cat £10,000. Philatelic Foundation (1978) & BPA (2008) Certificates. [Despite the unfortunate centring, this is one of the finest examples of this rare stamp that we have seen. The better-centred 'Besancon' (II) example with browned gum sold for SFr6655]

1894-1904 'POSTAGE' Overprint in Blue 10/- violet & claret Perf 12x11 AAMC #N69C (SG 275b) corner strip of 5 from the U/L of the sheet, the last unit exceptionally well centred, light diagonal crease across the first two units, hinged in the margins but the stamps with full unmounted o.g., Cat $1500++ (£1750++) for mounted singles.
