image 1937/39, Fuji deer white paper 20 S. (2), Nikko NP 10 S. tied "Kanghwamun 15.1.28" (Jan 28, 1940) to air mail cover to USA, endorsed on front to "Yokohama city / by Jan. 31 arriving Heain Maru" and on reverse "Airmail to Yoko. / Heian Maru - Due Feb. 12". The franked rate of 50 S. covers Korea-Japan 30s inland air sucharge plus 20s foreign suface basic latter. Also a US airmail stamp 6 C. applied canc. mute(not tied) for US inland air dispatch. This practice was tolerated in the 1920s/30s but then forbidden. US Stamp is not tied and hence "as is".
