Italy - Pre Adhesives / Stampless Covers 1858/1861, two unfranked folded letters with content from ODESSA to Livorno/Leghorn. The first arrived in Livorno in May 1858 has a Vienna transit mark, the second, Genova Transit from 14 APRIL 61, has the better black "AUS RUSSLAND EISENB.POST BUR V" (JvdL No 321, PRUSSIAN TPO KATTOWITZ-BRESLAU) and a SWISS "CHUR 12 APR 61" transit. Slightly mixed condition but nevertheless an attractive couple to illustrate the disturbing effects the Second Italian Independence War had on international mail.
