I.F.S. JASDAN: 1944 (26 June) sugar ration printed folded "card" (with full translation), sent through the post, franked only by 1942-47 1a deep myrtle-green, perf 10½ (imperforate margin at foot, position 3 of a pane), tied by large violet seriffed "CANCELLED" handstamp. The stamp is certainly SG 1 by shade, but is from the wider-spaced setting usual for SG 3. A very rare and desirable usage. SG 1 var; Scott 1 var (Image)

I.F.S. JASDAN: 1946 1a pale yellow-green pair (imperf at right and base) on handmade envelope, manuscript cancels and violet datestamp. Passed into the Imperial postal system where the stamps were not recognised, with Jasdan and Vichhiya Imperial CDSs, latter dated 20 SEP. On the front, horseshoe Vichhiya Postage Due mark with manuscript '3'. Envelope with some faults, but rare and with a nice story to tell. SG 4; Scott 1 (Image)

I.F.S. JASDAN: 1945 (Sept ?) printed sugar ration 'card' sent through the post, with 1942-47 1a pale yellow-green perf 8½-9 (pos. 1 on pane, imperforate at top) tied by violet circular postmark, with 1a rose fiscal (uncancelled, spike hole) applied at upper left. Rare and most interesting usage. SG 4; Scott 1 This represents apparently the earliest recorded date for SG 4. Part I gives 1946, but it has always seemed likely to be an earlier printing than SG 5, for which 1945 usage has aready been recorded XXX (Image)
