EARLY 2-RING "HONG-KONG/SINGAPORE-TO/HONG-KONG/MARINE-SORTER" CDS ON INGOING GB COVER REDIRECTED TO CEYLON; Fine and attractive small 15 Jan. 1869 env. to a British Officer of the "63rd Regt., Hong Kong, China" at the 1s-4d "Via Marseilles" rate with GB 4d Vermilion + 1/- Green (both with cut wing-margins) tied by v. fine "YARMOUTH/NORFOLK/927" duplexes and so having a very fine 2-ring "HONG-KONG/SINGAPORE-TO/HONG-KONG/MARINE-SORTER" cds ("MR/?/14") on the reverse. But redirected in red crayon to "Col[ombo]" on the front and so with red 6/7 Apr. "GALLE" & "COLOMBO" "PAID" cds's (one overstriking the Marine Sorter cds) on the reverse. Rare example of redirected mail not charged and an unusual Ceylon destination from Hong Kong. Exhibition Quality.
