A social document of the highest importance and a fantastic official record of the history of mining in the Colony including legislation, licence fees etc, and chapters headed 'Political Rights', 'The Ballaarat Outbreak', 'Departmental Changes', Financial Changes, 'Social Condition', 'Mining Prospects' etc.
The Eureka Uprising on the Ballarat Diggings is often referred to as the Birth of Democracy in Australia. The report resulted in much better conditions for the miners, including greatly reduced licence fees. (Image1)
