image France, 1866 (Mar. 8), Two-country franked military cover from Tampico, Mexico, to Bordeaux, a stunning cover, franked by Mexico 2R orange overprinted "Tampico/200 1865" (#23, Type IV overprint) tied by double-ring "Correos Tampico" dater with matching octagonal postmark dated 8 MAR 66 alongside—plus France 80c Napoléon Empire (#19) tied by Naval Anchor cancel; front additionally bears boxed "PD" handstamp and sender's chop; reverse bears double-ring "Cor. D. Armée/13/MARS/66/Ing. B. Paq. No 3" postmark and Bourdeaux (32) receiver of Apr. 8; soiling and part of backflap removed on opening, but a remarkable cover from the French Corps in Mexico, Very Fine usage. image France, 1871 (May 10), Tricolor franking sent from Constantinople to Messina, Sicily, folded lettersheet franked by 10c, 30c and 80c Bordeaux issues (#42, 46 and 48), all tied by three strikes of Large Numeral 5083 diamonds, with double-ring "Constantinople/10/MAI/71/Turquie" dater alongside; addressed to the Messina, with its 15 MAG receiver on reverse; small paper loss along weakened fold at bottom, still Very Fine, a gorgeous cover with an uncommon route, signed Calves. PAID transit in red, Fine to Very Fine+, a scarce multiple, signed Roumet and Maury.
