1952 unissued Royal Visit 3d blue (RMS Gothic) imperf proof irregular block of 5 on wove paper, with large sheet margins at top and at foot, some vert creases otherwise fine. Note: the plate for 3d value of the proposed 1952 Royal Visit of Princess Elizabeth was beginning to be produced when news was received that King George was ill & the tour was cancelled. A proof was taken of the partly finished plate, showing 28 impressions and various guide lines. (Image)
