776, 3¢ Texas Centennial on (3) event covers, F-VF, with couple small faults (corner creases), first tied to cover with postmark "GOLIAD, TEX./MAR 27/3-PM/1936" (commemorating the Goliad Massacre) w/black rubber stamped cachet "TEXAS CENTENNIAL/REMEMBER GOLIAD/(Pictorial of Presidio La Bahia)/CANCELED IN/LA BAHAIA, MARCH 27, 1936"; second and third tied to cover with circular date stamp postmark "HOUSTON, TEXAS 3/APR21/2-PM/1936" (commemorating the Battle of San Jacinto and defeat of the Mexican Army under Santa Anna), second has rubber stamp purple cachet "SAN JACINTO/BATTLEFIELD/CENTENNIAL/CELEBRATION/APRIL 21, 1936" atop an image of the San Jacinto Monument, third has (2) cachets with (1) the Battlefield cachet and (2) an American General Fire Insurance Co. cachet of an etching of the meeting of Sam Houston and Santa Anna. No. 3 has contents, a facsimile Gus Wortham signed letter about the Battle of San Jacinto. Condition is Fair to Good, second and third opened roughly and has tears, first has a few stray ink marks and neatly opened at top. Great history collateral

Contains a handwritten, signed letter from U.S. Senator George Peabody Wetmore (U.S. Senator 1895-1907 and 1908-1913 from Rhode Island, as well as former Governor of Rhode Island 1885-1887) with Senate letterhead offering some free Metropolitan Opera (of NYC, [which he helped found in 1883]) tickets to a friend, the addressee William O.
