Dowdle/Gatesville/Coryell Co/Tex." Contains 3-page letter from David M. Dowdle (Dowdell) (signed twice with different spellings). Talks of Gen. Taylor being relieved of command, Gen. Smith, Col. King becoming Brig. Gen., various family and friends, his health and to returning back to war soon. Very scarce postal usage, Texas history and Civil War. Transcript made (Image)
