DEMERARA / SHIP LETTER 1860 (9 April) Incoming Ship Mail from Barbados: 1d pale blue (SG 9) tied by barred "1" pmk on folded cover to Demerara, carried by naval vessel HMS "STYX", taxed 4d, exceptional 2-line postmark DEMERARA / SHIP LETTER alongside, very rare, reverse bears BARBADOS AP 9 1860 despatch cds and DEMERARA AP 12 60 arrival cds
Note: The handstamp DEMERARA / SHIP LETTER (type 13) was applied at Stabroek Packet Office (later called Georgetown). It had been sent to the colony is 1841.
