KINTRA - VERY RARE PRESTAMP BOXED NAMESTAMP (2 KNOWN?) UNIQUELY STRUCK WITH BLURRED BAGSEAL MARK; 10 June 1819 EL from "Kintraw" (remote west coast village; near Ardfern which replaced the Kintraw P.O. in 1846) to Edinburgh with a mainly very fine very rare boxed "KINTRA" (Auckland AR260) on the front beside the manuscript "10½" rate but also having a smudged circular mark in the same brown ink as the Kintra mark, which was almost certainly made with this small P.O.'s Bagseal struck in error. We have only traced one other example of this boxed mark, of 26 Dec. 1823 and creased (sold in Cavendish's 20 Jan. 1990 auction, in lot 605). Unique and attractive Scottish cover. (Image)
