1861, 1¢ blue (Scott 63), vertical pair, plus Great Britain perforated 1d red (#33, plate 93), on partial leaf of The Illustrated London News (pp. 139-140, July 1866 mentioned in one advertisement on the reverse); the paper originally sent to "Post Office Box 34, Canandaigua, N.Y. State"; the recipient clearly saw something of interest to a friend, affixed the two Franklins, and sent it to a Mr. Frank Smith in Indianapolis, Indiana; strong killer ties the 1d, the 1¢ stamps tied by lightly struck postmark and target (?) cancels; newspaper with splits developing along fold lines, but otherwise sound, Fine to Very Fine, an interesting two-country franking.
