image Liberia, "Topsy Turvy" Specialized Collection with Numerous Inverts, 1880-1970s, On Lighthouse pages, stocksheets, and in glassines, not your ordinary Liberia; mostly mint with dozens of inverted centers from the classic era; seven examples alone of #35a and numerous other errors, like inverted overprints, missing colors, and imperforates, as well as proofs and specimens. Some highlights include a pair of #35 imperf between, a large die proof of #21, a block of four of #101 double-perfed, a black proof set of 115-24, and O46 in a block of four with the other three stamps lacking the OS overprint, which legendary Canadian stamp dealer Kasimir Bileski claims is a unique example. Also included in this lot is an original photo of the full sheet of the "Inverted Elephant", which Mr. Bileski included in each of his orders of 62a after breaking up the sheet into individual stamps. In addition, an indispensable reference guide by Philip Cockrill entitled "Liberia: Postal History & Stamps 1835-1945, generally Fine to Very Fine, numerous scans viewable online.
