Registry Exchange Label, Shanghai, China, printed name with Gothic red letter "R" (Scott FX-SH1a), on large-format envelope with lovely franking of 2¢ carmine and 3¢ violet (pair) Small Bank Notes plus 4¢ 1902 Series, sent from Shanghai to Yonkers, NY; the cover endorsed in red ink "Registered" and "Per Empress of Japan", the stamps cancelled by two strikes in blue of double-oval "*U.S. Postal Agency-Reg. Div*/SEP. 25 1900/Shanghai-China" handstamps, with smudged Agency duplex in black below; sent by E. Kann of the Russo-Chinese Bank (personal handstamp on reverse); back also shows additional strike of the canceler in a green blue, plus Seattle (Oct. 14) and Yonkers (Oct. 20) Registered receivers; reduced slightly at top and opened for display, with horizontal file fold through address not impinging on stamps or label, Very Fine, a most attractive usage of this scarce Exchange Label, only 20 of this style of Exchange Label are recorded.
