Confederate Civil War Postal History

Patriotic Covers
Sale No: 779
Lot No: 381
Symbol: C
Cat No: SN-4

image Soldier with Saber & 11-Star Flag (C.S.A. Catalog SN-4), in yellow on a gray soldier-enorsed cover with faint penciled "Due 10" and a Sep 7 Macon, Miss. c.d.s., to Euterp, Ky.; damp staining has obscured most of the soldier's endorsement, leaving only that he was a member of a Mississippi Cavalry unit. Includes the Very Fine original 2-sided cross-written letter, datelined "Camp Co. Fair Grounds, Macon Miss., Sunday Sept 6th 1863", which seems to have some interesting content, including, "I prefer the Picket Line in front of the Enemy", though it's a bit hard to read because of the cross-writing., ex-Gatsby, cover with a 2001 C.S.A. certificate.
C.S.A. Catalog $3,000. (Image)
