image 1851-57, "Ben & George" Definitives Study Collection (Scott 10//26), Mounted on album pages, a study collection covering shades, platings and a variety of cancels on the 1¢ Franklin & 3¢ Washington. The 1851 Franklin features 5 singles, 2 pairs (one on piece), a strip of 3 (on piece), and another strip of 3 of rejoined singles. The imperforate 3¢ Washington has 6 singles, and 2 covers, each with a Bloods local, both acid tied, one also tied by Philadelphia CDS. For the perforated 1857 issue, the 1¢ Franklin has 1 mint, and 8 used singles (four with red CDS), and the 3¢ Washington with 1 appearing unused, 5 singles, a cover with two #26 (one added for forwarding postage), and a pair of #26 on piece tied with a green CDS of St. Joseph, MO and an additional handstamp from Pikes Peak Express, the parent company of the Pony Express (with certificate), generally Fine to Very Fine, viewable in full.
