Accumulation of 2,784 1856-57 Penny Red Perforated Issues, all housed in over 900 black 2-row stock cards. We noted a wide array of postmark types (including mostly numeral but also saw some c.d.s.) and about 10% of the stock cards have owner's notes which include plating information, shades, some marked reserve plate 15-17, etc., and we assume there will be other interesting finds in such a large lot. The Scott's catalogue value was assessed at the least expensive value, as we did not check every stamp for perforations. A great lot for Penny Red enthusiasts and dealers looking for stock. We noted a few small faults (mostly trimmed perfs), otherwise the stamps are generally in fine to very fine condition. We recommend in-person viewing of this lot to better appreciate it, as it is a difficult lot to photograph. Catalogue value is for the least expensive shade, paper, postmark or variety. (Image)
