Octagonal carrier datestamp ties 1¢ blue (63), additional strike at top right, on locally addressed Philadelphia buff cover with Leeds Patent Ventilator Co. black cameo corner card with illustration of chimney ventilator, address in corner card crossed out; slightly reduced at top, 1¢ large tear at lower right, Very Fine appearance, a spectacular cameo design.
Estimate; $1,000 - 1,500.

The "U.S.P.O. DESPATCH, PHILA." octagon datestamp has been recorded from January 6th 1861 until April 9th 1862 at the main Philadelphia post office only. It was not used at any of the four Sub-Posts.

Octagon datestamp cancels 1¢ blue (U19) on buff entire and additional sharp strike at top center to local Philadelphia street address; reduced slightly at top with partial flap, Very Fine and clear strike of the U.S. Penny Mail datestamp, with 2010 P.F. certificate.
