Fresh blue folded letter with red "New Orleans La., Dec 28" cds and matching "Paid 21" rating handstamp for the 21¢ treaty rate for carriage by American packet, intended for the sailing of the Collins Line Baltic, but the New Orleans postmaster, realizing that the letter had missed that sailing, sent it directly to Boston for the sailing of Cunard Line Canada that departed Jan. 7th for Liverpool arriving Jan. 18th, Boston red manuscript crossed out prepaid rating and "16" cents credit back to New Orleans, red London (1.28) transit backstamp and matching "Colonies / &c. Art. 13" framed handstamp, Calais (1.29) entry cds and matching "15" decimes due handstamp; slight upper right paper loss, otherwise Very Fine and choice use,ex-Feldman. Estimate; $500 - 750.
