image Ca. 1869-70 Louis Riel Essay in Red, imperforate with margin just cut into at top, on vertical wove paper, reading “Republique Canadienne / Canadian Republic”, with no denomination. A rare early Canadian essay, with only 8 to 10 copies known in this colour, small black spot on front, still fine. Accompanied by a 1997 Saskatoon Stamp Centre Guarantee of Authenticity. (Image)
