Cat No: Oct. 9
1936 (Oct. 9), Hindenburg Dinner Menu, 4-page menu plus covers that was given out on Hindenburg's sight-seeing flight over America's fall foliage, from Lakehurst up to Boston and back by way of Philadelphia. The flight was dubbed "The Tycoon's Tour" by Time magazine. The menu measures about 8½" x 11" and has a 4-color cover picturing an aerial view of the northeast U.S, the flight's route laid out on the largely intact red cellophane dust jacket. The first page has a welcome message from the tour's organizers, the German Zeppelin Transport Co. and Standard Oil. Page two feature the dinner menu and the day's schedule od broadcasts "from Hindenburg to ground while in flight." The third page is the complete list of guests and hosts, which includes such dignataries as Nelson Rockefeller, Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker, actor Pat O'Brien, Goodyear's Paul Litchfield, Pan American Airways' Juan Trippe, Lakehurst's Cmdr. Charles Rosendahl, many others, including journalist, Harry Kroh, who represented eight different newspapers and who was the original owner of this particular menu. Overall condition is excellent, even the fragile cellophane dust jacket being remarkably complete. (Image)
