1951, 10¢ chocolate on pale blue (Scott UC16b), a fresh, mint letter sheet, apparently lightly folded at one time, but not heavily creased, Very Fine. Scott $450.
Accompanied by three letters of authenticity including a copy of a 1953 letter from the Assistant Postmaster General explaining that apparently the red ink had become contaminated with foreign matter while cleaning the press with solvent. The others are a copy of a letter from the u.s. Testing Co. verifying that the ink is different from that of the normal letter sheet, and a letter from the Airmail dealer, F.W. Kessler telling of the original "find" of 95 sheets. (Image)
