Not just your ordinary letter in the mail; 36 items, all annotated, showing special services, postal markings, etc.; most are stampless folded letters, but we see four 1920s Private Post covers (three from Florence, one from Rome), an 1849 "Too Late" (Dopo la Partenza) marking, a Roman States "Too Late" folded letter with 2bai adhesive tied, border handstamps, "TS" marks, ship markings, and more; most items domestically used, with good coverage of material from Tuscany and Sardinia in particular, but we also found mail to England and France, Very Fine, a postal historian's delight; inspect. A remarkable collection of all things Back-of-the-Book, from Newspaper stamps to Dues, Revenues to Parcel Posts to Courier stamps; a mix of mint, used and used on cover or piece, this is an exhibit waiting to be finalized, as each homemade Scott Specialty page is fully annotated; includes Sardinia Newspaper stamps used in Roman States and Lombardy (on newspaper corner and cover), a lovely array of #J1 (one showing faint traces of Roman States grill), pairs used on several pieces, a phenomenal copy used on the second day of issue in Tuscany (the stamp was rarely used outside the Roman States), inverted #J5a, J6a, J8a and J19a (variously mint singles or blocks, used or used on cover); Revenues and Parcel Posts as singles (mint or used) and used as postage, Postal Accounting stamps, Agency stamps, Corrieri Alta Italia stamps mint or used on cover, and much, much more, Fine to Very Fine with much better, there are just far too many items to describe in full here; be sure to view, many items noted as signed various.
