Collection of Canada First Day Covers, 1937-1973, consisting of roughly 250 first day covers housed in three ABC First Day Cover Albums, ranging from Scott #231/625. The majority (roughly 180 covers) have privately printed cachets, noting makers: H&E, JCR, Scott, Rose Craft, FT, Capital and Cole. Better items include #301 (c.v. $90), along with a few replacement cacheted first days. The lot also includes roughly 45 Commonwealth first day covers, ranging from the 1940's including a Great Britain 1940 Centenary of the Postage Stamp (S.G. c.v. £55), along with a few Canadian first flight covers ranging from 1929 up to the 1950s. Accumulation of Roughly 700 Private Cacheted First Day Covers, consisting of nine albums and loose material. The range of material is generally from the late 1950s up to the early 1970's, with a few on either side of the range (including a few Official first day covers). The majority appear to be unaddressed and are franked with singles, multiples, sets and a few plate blocks. We note a number of private cachet makers including: Jackson, Cole, JCR, Caneco, H&E, Harford, and includes a few from the Canadian Bank Note Company and noted a few replacement cachets. The lot also includes roughly fifty E.S. Hubbell & Sons Ltd. #10 sized first day covers (many including Post Office stamp announcements).
