image 1869 (5 Mar) cover from the French Post Office in Cairo, franked with 20c and 40c Laureated, tied by "5119" numerals and with corresponding "Le Caire Bau Francais" departure pmk alongside, sent via London and Marseille to Ireland, appropriate transit and Derry arrival pmk on back, fine usage from the French Consular Office in Cairo to Ireland (sender was Rear Admiral Sir Thomas Cochrane to his son Ernest. The admiral was probably stationed in the Mediterranean at the time) (Image)
