Bold clear strike of cds (SAN-1020) on fresh cover to San Diego, franked with 1883, 2¢ red brown canceled by fancy intertwined "US Mail" in circle handstamp, Extremely Fine, the earliest postmark from Del Mar and the only recorded example of this T&P postmark.
Scott No. 210; Estimate $200 - 300.

Although located by the sea, as the name suggests, the name stems from the Bayard Taylor's poem "The Fight of Paso de Mar", a folk tale.
