image Collection of Federal and Provincial Revenues, 1890s to 1960s, including more than 225 mostly used stamps housed in 8 black stock pages. The collection starts with the three Bill Stamp issues: First (x7, usual faults, van Dam c.v. $83), Second (x9, c.v. $49) and Third (x45, several mint and the three high values present with some duplication, c.v. $203). We saw a good selection of Gas Inspection (including 11 multiples used on piece; total c.v. $493), Light Inspection (c.v. $161), Weights and Measures (c.v. $235), and a Supreme Court stamp (#FSC5, c.v. $85). Excise and War Tax stamps are present as mostly used singles, pairs and a few multiples (not included in the c.v.), along with some Playing Card stamps (FPC1 x4, c.v. $30) a "Spitfire" War Savings stamp (FWS6, c.v. $35). One page contains a nearly-complete set of the first Postal Scrip issue (missing only the 1c blue and with 10c to 90c NH; c.v. $210). There is a good number of Ontario, Quebec stamps and Yukon Law (YL13, the silver overprint, c.v. $45) and a number of Newfoundland revenues (the latter c.v. $238). We also saw four CPR Telephone and Telegraph stamps (c.v. $112). There is also a nice assortment of Cigarette stamps, a Yukon Law stamp, a 1947 B.C. Duck Stamp and more. This clean lot is fine or better and good for a current collector or a nice start to a new collecting area. All items are shown in our online photos. (Image)

image Remainder Lot of Useful Federal Revenue Stamps, 1865 to 1941, consisting of mint and used examples of the Second and Third Bill issues, Gas Inspection, Supreme Court, War Savings and Excise stamps. The Second Bill issue runs from the 1c to the 40c (x13, FB18 to FB31, mint, some with original gum, c.v. $605), and the Third Bill issue runs from the 1c to the $3 (x18, FB37 to FB54, used, c.v. $153) plus an imperforate single (FB52b, mint o.g., c.v. $45) and a block of four of the $3 (FB54, l.h., c.v. $300). The Gas Inspection stamps are Victorian and comprise #FG19 and FG22a (x3, n.h.) with a total c.v. of $30. The Supreme Court stamps include one George V $1, FSC18 (c.v. $45) and four George VI 50c (two FSC25, c.v. $70; 1 FSC25a, slate colour, c.v. $35; and one FSC25b, yellow gum, c.v. $50). The two-leaf Excise stamps run from FX34 to FX45 (x12, used, c.v. $121), the three leaf coils include FX95 and FX96a (total c.v. $36) and the imperforate Three Leaf Excise issue FX98 to XFX102 (total c.v. $103). The group also includes two vertical pairs of War Savings stamps, FWS5 (c.v. $26). Also includes a lovely block of four of $1 British Columbia Law stamps, with bright, fresh colour and vertically imperforate between, with three hinged and one never hinged (BCL40b, with 1 NH and 3 hinged, c.v. $787). Overall clean, fine to very fine, and sure to be of use to both collectors and dealers. Our online photos show the entire contents. (Image)
