Full o.g., deep rich color on bright paper, choice centering within well balanced margins, Extremely Fine, rare with only 465 sold, this being one of three examples to receive this grade with only one higher (a 95), with 1973 P.F. & 2005 P.S.E. certificates, the latter Graded (XF 90, SMQ $9,000).

image 1861-66 (1875 Re-issue), 5¢ brown. Neat duplex cancel, choice centering amid wide margins, beautiful rich deep color, Very Fine and choice, one of the few used examples of the 672 that were issued, ex-Haas & R. Collier, with 1966 (copy), 1991 and 2009 P.F. certificates.

AN EXCEPTIONAL AND RARE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1861 5¢ RE-ISSUE IN SOUND CONDITION.

There were 10,000 stamps of the 5¢ Re-Issue printed (100 impressions from the new plate of 100). Only 672 of the 5¢ were sold, the remaining 9,328 were destroyed on July 16, 1884.
