B.H. Epperson, Clarksville, Texas, letter from G.W. Wright concerning orders to regulate prices on leather, salt, and other goods to prevent what we would term "price gouging"; letter toning and pair with some gum toning, Fine and scarce Texas blue postmark use.

Captain George Washington Wright, the sender, was the Provost Marshal of Red River County, Texas, and was given the authority to regulate the prices in the county. Benjamin H. Epperson (1826-78) was a prominent lawyer, politician and personal friend of Sam Houston.
