Envelope (228 x 101) sent air mail London to Buenos Aires, Argentina, slight soiling with pair KGV 1s photogravure (SG449) and 5s re-engraved Seahorse (SG451) x 2 cancelled fine strikes LONDON date stamps 24 MAY 39. 5s Seahorses some faults, all stamps perfined 'RML' (Royal Mail Lines). On front fine strike 'DEUTSCHE LUFTPOST/EUROPA-SUDAMERKA' cachet in red also envelope evidently damaged in transit and has been officially repaired, over which is fine strike ARGENTINA date stamp 28 MAY 39. Noble, 39 Lady Margaret Rd, London N.W.' at upper right unused example 1860 1d Inland Revenue reddish lilac on bluish paper overprinted 'INLAND/REVENUE' in red (SGF8/L108). Alongside superb strike 'KENTISH.TOWN.N.W.' squared circle DE 8 88. RPS cert 211047 states 'L108... used on cover dated 9 DEC 88-stamp very toned and torn across centre at right-is genuine as far as one can say despite the lack of tieing'. Stamp on cover catalogues £1500 and unused example with large part original gum (Cat £900) also accompanies. (2 items plus RPS cert). (Ref 127505).

Fine printed content 'To Cover this Season, at GULLANE, THE POWERFUL FINE HORSE STAMFORD, THIRTY MARES, by Subscription, at ELEVEN GUINEAS each. As the Subscription has not filled, he will be allowed to cover a few Half-bred Mares at Half Price. N.B.-All Expences to be paid at the time of Covering, or before the Mares are taken away.
