542 U c1890s-1920s random accum of postal stationery printed stamp cutouts on 16 well-filled old album pages. Total 254 mounted items, plus 37 loose. Much dupn. Neat square cutouts. Many diff imprints, shades & paper colours. Many with part pmks. Noted 2 albino embossed impressions of GV ½d green envelope cutouts. How they collected 100+ years ago.

Loveday [facsimile of signature], Major, Comndg. 2nd Welln. Battn., M.R. [Mounted Rifles]. Wellington cds 13 FE 05. Fine & scarce. With photocopy of short biography of Major (later Colonel) Lambert William Loveday (1845-1916).

With note from female donor of "a tin of chocs" sent separately to a NZ soldier in 8th Otago Battalion (probably in France). Fine strike (violet) of scarce h/s "Returned to N.Z." (applied in London). Address crossed out & with m/s "Riverton, Invercargill" & large scrawled "N.Z." Wellington transit receipt cds 29 AP 18. Corner of p/c damaged. Interesting relic.
