PIES" applied in Zanzibar, comprising 1891 India ½a envelope franked ½a, sent internally then redirected from the Dead Letter Office Lucknow to Zanzibar with redirection slip tied by Sea Post Office, Aden and Zanzibar datestamps, charged 3a; G.E.A 3p postcard from Dar-es-Salaam to H.M.S "Swallow" at Zanzibar charged 1a, redirected to Simons Town; 1896 India ¼a postcard sent within Zanzibar to S.M.S "Condor" charged 6p; 1899 B.E.A ½a postcard from Mombasa to Zanzibar charged 1a. A scarce group, the first the earliest recorded example of this charge mark. (4).

1960 image1926 (July 21) Stampless cover from India to Zanzibar backstamped at Sisendi, Lucknow and Zanzibar, Indian tombstone charge mark and "T" handstamp, bearing an uncancelled 25c magenta postage due (postage due stamps not cancelled before the middle of 1929). A rare stamp on a commercial cover and an early use of this first postage due issue, item number 3 in the John Griffith-Jones listing (and one of six single 25c uses recorded on cover), illustrated on page 288 of the handbook. 1963 image1929 (May 1) Stampless cover with Chakichaki, Pemba backstamp, to the Customs House at Zanzibar, handstamped "T" and "POSTAGE DUE / 1as", bearing two uncancelled 3c orange dues, two vertical creases, otherwise fine and a very scarce commercial cover. The only known use of these Pemba due handstamps at this period (with charge shown in Annas although these had been replaced by cents in 1908!), and the latest known cover with these first issue dues left uncancelled. 1965 image1930 (June 12) Large piece bearing 1c, 3c, 18c salmon and 50c postage dues each tied by a Zanzibar c.d.s, "T" handstamp alongside, endorsed "Charges Paid" in red ink with a matching red cross and initials on each of the due stamps and red lines through the "T" handstamp, all done upon redirection. A unique combination of dues, the earliest recorded use of the 1c, 18c salmon and 50c values, and one of just eight recorded properly used examples of the 50c. Hollingworth in Zanzibar with "3D / TO PAY / W.C.1" dues applied in error, manuscript "T30", 12c green "cent·s" variety + 1930 6c yellow dues tied by a Zanzibar c.d.s (Jan 27), manuscript "1073" register number. The 12c with small defect at foot, nevertheless the only recorded example of this 12c variety recorded on cover, with just six examples of this variety recorded in total.
