The message includes "we are having a fortnight of aviation during which time the mails will be carried between Kenilworth and Muizenberg, then sent by the next mail on Tuesday Jan 2 to England. The aeronauts are messrs Patterson and Driver. The former has had a spill and is at present in hospital, the latter, little daunted, is making good flights every day".
