VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE BLOCK OF EIGHT OF THE FIRST CONFEDERATE 10-CENT STAMP WITH FULL HOYER & LUDWIG IMPRINT.
We have offered only one other multiple with full imprint, which was part of a block of 50. Scott Retail as two blocks of four with no premium for the imprint (Image)
VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN ATTRACTIVE BLOCK OF EIGHT WITH VERTICAL GUTTER.
The C.S.A. Lithograph Issues (Scott 1-5) were produced from printing stones of 200 subjects, arranged in side-by-side panes of 100, with a vertical gutter between. Each of the left and right panes of 100 consisted of two transfers of the 50-subject transfer stone. Multiples crossing the vertical gutter that separated the left and right transfer units are rare, as the sheet of 200 was typically separated into panes of 100 before individual stamps or blocks were cut out.
Scott Retail as two gutter pairs and two normal pairs (Image)
