VERY FINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE EAGLE ISSUE COVER FROM THE SMALL VILLAGE OF BIEN HOA, PAYING DOUBLE THE 20-CENT MILITARY RATE TO FRANCE.
Bien Hoa was a small village north of Saigon. It was the site of a major battle between the French and Spanish on one side and the Vietnamese on the other in 1861.

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE USE OF A 40-CENTIMES EAGLE ISSUE PAIR ON A COVER FROM SAIGON TO FRANCE AND CANCELLED ABOARD THE IMPERATRICE.
The Imperatrice datestamp is very scarce, as is the red octagonal marking which had been introduced shortly before this cover was mailed.
