FINE-VERY FINE. A RARE BLOCK OF SIX OF THE 1894 UNWATERMARKED BUREAU NEWSPAPER ISSUE.
With 2003 P.F. certificate. Scott Retail as singles (Image)
FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT 1894 UNWATERMARKED NEWSPAPERS AND PERIODICALS ISSUE. ONE OF THE GREAT RARITIES OF THE ISSUE.
Perhaps two or three others exist. Ex Braceland. With 1988 P.F. certificate. In our opinion this is very undercatalogued in Scott. A footnote in Scott Catalogue states that this is valued with Fine centering and small faults. (Image)
FINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE ORIGINAL-GUM BLOCK OF FOUR OF THE 1894 20-CENT UNWATERMARKED NEWSPAPERS AND PERIODICALS BUREAU ISSUE.
As this marvelous position multiple shows, the 1894 Bureau printing was made from the old plates of the American and Continental Bank Note Companies. The plates were re-entered, and there are also other differences in the printings, including the paper and gum. This issue was not in service for very long before the new plates were ready for the Bureau-produced issue of 1895. A few other blocks are contained in Power Search, but this is the only one with the imprint. (Image)
VERY FINE APPEARANCE. THE 60-CENT 1894 UNWATERNARKED BUREAU NEWSPAPER ISSUE IS ONE OF THE RAREST OF ALL NEWSPAPER STAMPS. ONLY SIXTEEN UNUSED AND THREE USED ARE CONTAINED IN OUR RECORDS.
Our recently updated census of PR98 (available at http://siegelauctions.com/dynamic/census/PR98/PR98.pdf ) contains sixteen unused and three used copies. Of these, only four are potentially sound, one of which has a s.e. at top. The example offered here is desirable, by virtue of both its centering and nearly sound condition.
Census No. PR98-OG-01. With 1988 P.F. certificate. (Image)
