VERY FINE AND VERY RARE. ONLY 22 PAIRS ARE KNOWN TO EXIST.

The error was caused when the sheet was misfed into the printing press, and the rightmost vertical row did not receive the overprint. Two additional copies are known caused by a foldover.

VERY FINE AND CHOICE EXAMPLE OF THE "ZONE" ONLY ERROR. ONLY FIVE OR SO ARE KNOWN, ONE OF WHICH IS USED.

This error was created by a foldover in the left vertical row of one pane, which caused "Canal" to print in the sheet margin. The following examples are known: 1) offered in Siegel Sale 878, lot 615, 2) similar example offered in our Drucker sale 856, lot 591, the example offered here, 3) unused in horizontal pair with normal, part of "Canal" visible at left, ex Plass lot 581, 4) single contained in a large unused block, and 5) left stamp in horizontal strip of five used on cover, ex Plass lot 582.
