Part One of the Alan B. Whitman Collection. This is easily one of the most
important auctions to be held in many years. Many great rarities are
included in the collection, including blocks of four of the 1861 Re-Issue,
a complete set of the 1869 Pictorials without grills, Bank Note Special
Printings, Pan-American Invert blocks of four, rare coils, Rotary Waste
issues and a comprehensive collection of varieties. Mr. Whitman focused on
condition, and all of his classics are unused, with many Mint N.H.
The auction is being held in three parts, spaced several months
apart:
Part One: 1847-1869 Issues - Sale date January 27-28, 2009
Part Two: 1870-1901 Issues - sale date to be announced
Part Three: 1902-1934 Issues including Air Post, Special Delivery,
Postage Dues and Offices in China
