VERY FINE STAMP AND PRESENTABLE COVER. ONE OF TWO RECORDED COVERS WITH BRAINARD'S STAMP USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH AMERICAN LETTER MAIL COMPANY SERVICE.
Brainard & Co. provided service from Troy, but not to Boston, thus the letter was given to American Letter Mail Co. (transfer point unknown). It is one of two covers known to us which show conjunctive use of a Brainard stamp with American Letter Mail Company. (Image)
VERY FINE. ONE OF FOURTEEN RECORDED COVERS BELIEVED TO BE GENUINE USAGES OF THE BRAINARD & CO. 5-CENT BLUE STAMP.
The Lyons census (The Penny Post, January 2006) reports sixteen covers with the Blue 24L2 stamp, but states that no more than fourteen of these are genuine usages.
