Brainard & Co. provided service from Troy, but not to Boston, thus the letter was given to American Letter Mail Co. (transfer point unknown). It is one of two covers known to us which show conjunctive use of a Brainard stamp with American Letter Mail Company. (Image)

The Lyons census (The Penny Post, January 2006) reports sixteen covers with the Blue 24L2 stamp, but states that no more than fourteen of these are genuine usages.
