137 c 3c 1851 Orange Brown and Experimental Orange Brown Shades on Cover. 82 covers and folded letters from the group identified by Wilson Hulme as "Better Color Shades", virtually all shades identified by Dr. William Amonette, includes 27 covers with stamps classified as Orange Brown, Reddish Orange Brown, Yellowish Orange Brown and Copperish Orange Brown (one dated July 2, second day), and 55 covers with stamps classified as Experimental Orange Brown (valued in Scott at $900.00 per cover), one cover with pair and single Experimental OB, another with stamp tied by rare "Due 1c Way" framed handstamp, the lot includes three other covers with 1856 Orange Brown stamps and a few normal No. 11's, naturally there are stamps with margins cut in, faults, file creases thru stamps, etc., but quite a few clean Very Fine stamps and covers will be found throughout, a tremendous offering, the result of many years of collecting and collaboration with the premier authority on 3c 1851 shades, Scott Retail for the basic OB and Experimental OB covers is $55,000.00 (without premium for No. 10 vs. 10A)
