Kamoa at Kukuau, Hilo, Apr. 24, 1860, to Mr. Lyman at Keaiwa, Kau (Frederick Lyman, Keaiwa postmaster from 1860 to 1869), a few tiny toned specks and light smear in blue ink of address

EXTREMELY FINE. AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE NUMERAL ISSUE COVER WITH THE HILO "COLLECTOR'S OFFICE" OVAL TYING A SUPERB 2-CENT ON GRAYISH PAPER FROM THE FIRST PRINTING. ONLY A FEW LETTERS WRITTEN IN HAWAIIAN ARE KNOWN.

The distinctive Hilo "Collector's Office" handstamp was used as a cancellation device during the Numeral Issue period and infrequently later on the 2c 1864 Issue.
