VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1893 10-CENT RED OVERPRINT ERROR. ONLY ONE SHEET OF FIFTY WAS ISSUED.
Most of the original sheet of fifty was bought by dealer J. H. Makins in 1901, probably on behalf of Henry J. Crocker. The San Francisco earthquake is said to have destroyed eight of the fifty. This is the only used copy plated in the W. R. Beardsley study. It was probably cancelled on a piece of philatelic mail.
Ex Mortimer and Honolulu Advertiser. With 1970 P.F. certificate (Image)
