EXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. ONE OF THE MOST ATTRACTIVE USED EXAMPLES OF THE RARE 1863 2-CENT DARK BLUE ON BLUISH PAPER. THE ONLY COPY KNOWN TO US WITH THE LAHAINA DATESTAMP STRUCK IN BLUE.
The 2c Dark Blue on Bluish paper (Scott 17) was printed after Scott 18 and before Scott 20. It is one of the rarest of all Numeral Issues in either unused or used condition, and almost all known examples have small faults. This stamp is the only example of Scott 17 we were able to locate with a blue town datestamp used as a cancel.
Ex Middendorf, Ishikawa and Honolulu Advertiser. With 1967 P.F. certificate. The broken "2" variety is unlisted in Scott (value is for normal stamp without premium for variety or cancel). (Image)
VERY FINE APPEARANCE. THE 1863 2-CENT DARK BLUE ON BLUISH PAPER IS EXTREMELY RARE, ESPECIALLY IN THIS CHOICE USED CONDITION.
Ex Caspary and Honolulu Advertiser (Image)
VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN ENORMOUSLY RARE USED 1863 2-CENT NUMERAL FROM THE FIFTH SETTING IN DARK BLUE ON BLUISH WOVE PAPER.
Acquired by Twigg-Smith from Warren Colson in 1958 (Image)
VERY FINE APPEARANCE. ONE OF THREE REPORTED EXAMPLES OF THE 1863 2-CENT DARK BLUE FIFTH-SETTING ON BLUISH PAPER USED ON PIECE. THERE ARE NO KNOWN COVERS BEARING THIS HAWAIIAN NUMERAL RARITY.
Ex Honolulu Advertiser. Scott value for stamp off cover is $8,000.00 (Image)
VERY FINE. A CHOICE SOUND USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1863 2-CENT BLACK FIFTH-SETTING NUMERAL ISSUE ON BLUISH GRAY PAPER.
As the relative Scott values indicate, used examples of the 1863 2c Black on Bluish Gray (Scott 18) are scarcer in used condition than unused. Sound used copies are extremely rare.
Ex Honolulu Advertiser (Image)
VERY FINE APPEARANCE. THIS RARE DROPPED "I" VARIETY FROM PLATE 5-A IS ILLUSTRATED AND DISCUSSED IN WESTERBERG.
Scott does not list the Dropped "I" variety. Value is for a normal used stamp. (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE. A GREAT RARITY, PROVIDING EVIDENCE THAT PLATE 5-A WAS USED TO PRINT 2-CENT NUMERAL STAMPS ON WHITE WOVE PAPER OF MEDIUM THICKNESS.
Ex Honolulu Advertiser (where it realized $9,500 hammer) (Image)
