1091 c imageVICTORIA, "Bendingo, Victoria JU 1, 1853". Backstamp on registered folded letter to Bedford Mass., London transit backstamp, "New York Am. Pkt. Oct. 15" transit, various rates, some wear incl. tear at bottom, still Fine, accompanied by detailed page showing the route and with detailed explanation, due the special handling of registered mails, it missed the P & O ship and instead was carried around the Cape of Africa, hence the change in rate, covers carried on this route are scarce (Image) E. 300-400

1092 c AUSTRALASIAN MAILS. 133 covers on annotated exhibit pages in five albums, an important collection containing covers arranged by sailing line and trip, numerous Australian States frankings incl. early Victoria and New South Wales, plus G.B. Victoria issues to Australian States, two volumes dedicated to 1st thru 24th European & Australian Royal Mail Co. "Homeward Mails" (most to England, but a couple to U.S.), other volumes incl. "Yass Post Paid" red framed handstamp and crown oval, private ship letters to England incl. one with New South Wales 1p and 3p 1852 Issue and another with 2p and 3p 1852 Issue, good run of P & O covers incl. pair of Victoria 3p Half-Length, others with 6p or 1sh frankings, also Black Ball and White Star sailings, Liverpool & Australian Navigation Co.'s Royal Charter, condition is about average for Australian States with cut-in stamps, file folds thru stamps and minor faults the norm, all are presentable and carefully described with ship sailings and background information, a phenomenal collection of this fascinating postal history subject, many covers worth $100 to $200 each and several are $500+ E. 5,000-7,500
