Forme 4, Stereo A179, sent from London to Clapham, originating backstamp red London MY.2.1840, four days before the official date, treated as unpaid, with "2" handstamp, "TP Chief Office" backstamp, inspector's star mark to the right of Britannia, some creasing and minor soiling FINE. A VERY RARE PRE-MAY 6 USAGE. ONLY A SMALL NUMBER ARE KNOWN. These envelopes were put on sale May 1, 1840, with instructions that they were not to be used until May 6.
