Horizontal pair showing misaligned entries, large margins to full at bottom right, neat strikes of red grid cancel, Very Fine and choice, ex Mirsky, the subject of misaligned entries was addressed by Wade Saadi in the August 2010 Chronicle, he surmises that the reason only five U.S. stamps prior to 1870 had framelines is because the siderographer had difficulty aligning the entries and, therefore, designs with ornamental frames produced a better appearance (Image)

Position 31R1, original gum, typically of Rawdon, Wright, Hatch and Edson the gum is thinly applied, but it covers virtually the entire surface (described on accompanying certificate as "part original gum"), double transfer in "Post Office", "U.S." and top right frameline, large margins to full at bottom where there is a small margin repair at right

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. THE ONLY RECORDED UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE 10-CENT 1847 ISSUE WITH DOUBLE TRANSFER TYPE B. A GREAT RARITY.

Two unused examples of the Ty. A double transfer are recorded. This is the only recorded unused example showing the desirable Ty. B double transfer, which is most prominent in "Post Office" at top.

Jun. 8" circular datestamp on light green 1849 folded cover to Baltimore, manuscript "Paid" at upper left, some slight wear, some expert internal mends mostly along folds

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE STRIP OF FOUR OF THE 5-CENT 1847 ISSUE PAYING THE DOUBLE 10-CENT RATE FROM BOSTON TO BALTIMORE. ONLY THREE COVERS WITH STRIPS OF FOUR HAVE THE U.S. EXPRESS MAIL MARKING.

Only 17 covers in the Alexander census are listed as having a multiple of four or larger of the 5c 1847 Issue. Of these, three are blocks and nine are strips of four. Three are used with the U.S. Express Mail marking..
