FINE APPEARANCE. AN ALMOST CERTAINLY UNIQUE SET OF "SPECIMEN" STAMPS PROVIDED TO FOREIGN POSTAL ARCHIVES.
Stamps were first affixed to archive albums and then overprinted by the postal authorities upon receipt from the UPU. This set comes from a 1976 Robson Lowe sale and has not been offered to the market since then. A similar set with different "Specimen" overprints was offered in our 2009 Whitpain sale (realized $5,750) (Image)
FINE AND EXTREMELY RARE PLATE BLOCK OF THE PHILIPPINES 1899 50-CENT UNWATERMARKED ISSUE.
The only larger multiples we record are a top plate block of ten and a bottom plate block of eight (Image)
FINE AND EXTREMELY RARE BLOCK OF FOUR OF THE $1.00 TYPE II 1901 PHILIPPINES OVERPRINT ISSUE.
A Power Search review of $1.00 Ty. II multiples found only this block of four and a block of six (ex Todd and Whitpain) (Image)
